A Beautiful Day!

A couple weeks ago the three of us decided to take a ride to the spot where I asked Niki to marry me, 10 years prior. The location was at the top of Big Cottonwood canyon near Brighton ski resort at a water hole called Silver Lake. We both couldn't believe that we hadn't been back to that spot in all that time, even though we've lived only a few miles away for all but two of those years. Until we arrived, we didn't really think of the fact that it was Labor Day weekend and everyone and their cousin would also be taking advantage of the nice mountain weather. Although it was quite crowded, it sure was a beautiful place to spend the afternoon. We brought some lunch with us too so we could take a moment to just sit and relax while we took in the magnificent scenery.

We told Lawson that if he looked really hard, he might be able to see a frog or a fish. "Mom, hurry, hurry, I think I see a fishy".

To get away from all the crowds we decided to take a trail that started at the back of Silver Lake that lead us a mile up the mountain to a pretty amazing reservoir called Twin Lakes. On our way there, we ran across a pretty big bull moose that was relaxing right off the trail, eating some grass. It was quite an experience to see an animal this big, so close, in the wild. Although he looked pretty harmless, we made sure to keep our distance while also maintaining a safe exit strategy. I guarantee the rack on this ol' boy could do some damage.

After about 20 minutes of watching the almighty Bullwinkle chew his grass, we moved up the trail to our destination, Twin Lakes Reservoir. Man was this place awesome. When you get caught up in the day-to-day sometimes it's hard to remember what a beautiful place God has blessed us with. That's exactly what this place was, God's beauty at it's best.

He put beauty in many things.
