Wranglers Football Scrimmage

Saturday Lawson had his first middle school football experience. At 10:00am they scrimmaged sister middle school Smithson Valley. Both middle schools feed into Smithson Valley High School, as a result the high school football coach will not allow them to play each other during the regular season (apparently he doesn't want any kind of rivalry between the two to carry over when they move up to high school). Saturday was a chance for each team to practice their plays and get ready for their first regular season games, which begin Thursday this week.

Lawson decided to change his number from 57 over the last 3 years to 71. However, during this scrimmage the coach just told the players to put on any number, so he ended up with 56. Look for him in the slide show below. This year his position is right Defensive End on Defense. They also have him as starting Long Snapper on Special Teams, and backup Center on offense. We're expecting a big year, he's growing up. Next stop, Friday Night Lights!
