Mini-Camp

This week Lawson completed a two day mini-camp at Alta High School. It was a chance for kids to meet the coaches and get used to some of the drills associated with the upcoming tackle football season. Lawson is finally old enough to "put on the pads" and start playing with the big boys. No more flag football for this guy. It was funny, just before the second day, Lawson said, "Flag football is for the little kids, huh dad?" Apparently now that he is 8 years old, he is technically a big kid (verging on teen ager if you ask us).

No, that's not Lawson walking barefooted across hot coals, here he is actually doing a warm up exercise called "high knees". Sometimes Lawson has a way of making even the simplest activity look dramatic.

Lawson started out doing skill drills with the Running Backs after he was assigned there by the coach. After consulting the coach on the second day of camp we moved him over to the Quarterback group, where we both agreed he would do better. Lawson has a great build for his age (tall and solid), which is perfect for the QB position. If we can increase his speed and agility, I think he'll really excel at it.

What?! How did this kid get to be 8? That's craziness! It's fun to see him participating in all these great activities. What a cool kid!

Miss you guys! Tell Niki hi!
