Very Thankful!

We had a great Thanksgiving this year, the first in our new Texas home. Nana and Papa Mills flew in from Utah for the long weekend which made it all that much better. It was great seeing them again after what seemed like so long. They have been such a big part of Lawson's life (and ours) that a few months without them helped us realize even more how much we love having them around. A holiday with both our parents there to celebrate with us is the way we like it. We hope we have many more like this one in the years to come. It was our first Thanksgiving with Jenna and Kevin and Niki's grandmother too. We cannot forget, however, the family back in Utah that we enjoyed so many Thanksgiving dinner's with. We love you very much and hope to see you all soon.

Everyone took part in whipping up some great food. Niki and I made a Turkey soaked in a brine solution overnight which was covered in white wine and stuffed with veggies before roasting in the oven. It was the juiciest Turkey I've ever had. We also made a sourdough sausage stuffing with fresh herbs, dried cranberries and minced apples. Niki made her trademark sweet potatoes and also her fresh Parmesan dinner rolls. Jenna and Kevin brought some killer mashed potatoes and the best cheesecake I've ever tasted. The Mackenzie's brought a wonderful string bean casserole and this 4/5 layer chocolate pie (wow). Niki's grandma Clara cooked up some outstanding desserts, including this toffee or brittle stuff that was unbelievable.

After some good eats, most of us watched the rest of the football games that were on, but some of us caught a little snooze. Ah grandpa's, you gotta love 'em.

Only on rare occassions do we give Bella-Smella people food. We couldn't resist her sad little puppy dog eyes while we were eating so she had the good fortune of finding some of that juicy Turkey meat in her dog bowl. About 20 minutes later, this is the result. A happy, sleepy doggy.

We are so Thankful for all that we've been blessed with. We have a wonderful son and doggy/daughter, great parents, great brothers and sisters, a beautiful home, and so much more.
